PALM Installation Guide
Looking for more than the handbook?Get PALM installed on your own notebook or desktop PC with this guided installation course. A working installation of PALM is a prerequisite for all other PALM academy courses.

Prerequisites- Working knowledge of Linux operating systems and familiarity with the command line (shell/terminal)
- A recent Linux distribution installed on your notebook or desktop computer (we recommend Ubuntu 24.04 LTS or higher)

*) Fair Use Support PolicySupport covers questions related to the installation process and common installation issues on standard Linux distributions running on desktop PCs and notebooks.
Support does not include HPC system administration, installation on HPC systems, custom software development, debugging unrelated software, or general Linux administration.
We will make every reasonable effort to help you successfully install PALM. However, due to the wide variety of hardware, operating systems, software environments, and third-party dependencies, successful installation on every system configuration cannot be guaranteed.
Support is provided via email and, where appropriate, Zoom meetings. The purpose of the support is to help you identify and resolve installation issues yourself by providing guidance, explanations, and troubleshooting advice. It is not intended to be a remote installation service or an unlimited debugging service in which we take over the complete installation process on your behalf.
To ensure fair access for all participants, support is subject to a reasonable fair-use policy. If an issue requires extensive investigation or repeatedly exceeds the scope of the Installation Guide, we may suggest alternative solutions or recommend a separate Course Advisory engagement.
